According to bro Cleopas "they were hoping* meaning that they were not even certain of what they were hoping for, but wait a minute, did Jesus ever teach them that he came to redeem Israel? Where and how did they come up with the hope of Israels" redemption? Even if it was in the law of Moses or the book of Moses why did they not wait to hear it from Jesus. What i have observed from bro Cleopas is that many of the disciples of Jesus was with him but were not actually listening to His teaching just the way many of us go to church not to hear the words of his but to receive one miracle or the other. ...

Sometimes we think that others are on the same page with us we tend to be comfortable in that assumption that is why many a time humans are always disappointed because most time we fail to face reality and begin to walk in assumption, Cleopas assumed that others were having the same hope as he because he thought so. Wait a minute, who told bro Cleopas what others were thinking? How did he come to the conclusion that "we had hoped? Because the last time i checked the sons of Zebedee were busy requesting for places of honour not the redemption of Israel and Judas was there too thinking of how to make more money from Jesus ...

Let start today by taking a look at the statement of bro Cleopas when Jesus met them on the way to Emmaus, he started by telling Jesus that "But we were hoping" who are the we? Where are the we at this point in time? What did the we do to make sure that their hope comes to pass? The truth of the matter is that when you follow the crowd you will not see the cloud, the crowd will make you irrelevant when you are in the midst of them, the crowd will give you direction even when they are in the wrong direction and whenever you are in the wrong direction crowd is not an advantage neither speed. ...

They had their own expectations of Jesus not minding the mission of Jesus, they had their plans for Jesus without minding what Jesus had for Himself or what the father had asked him to do, they were following Jesus without knowing fully the mission of Jesus.
