 *MANNA FOR THE WEEK* The bible told us about two men that went to church to pray, one a pharisee and the other a tax collector. Lk 18:9-14. The pharisee went up to God to tell God that He was owning him because he pays his tithes, fast, gives fat offerings and he also told God how he makes efforts to see that he live a righteous life. Though it seemed that he was trying his best but all that he was doing was out of obeying religious laws not out of love for God. While the tax collector knowing full well that he was a sinner out of reverence for God went to God to acknowledge his sins and openness to change and live right. While the pharisee was busy accusing the tax collector of not been worthy of God's blessings, the tax collector was busy making his ways right with God and at the end of the story Jesus told us that the tax collector went home blessed while the self righteous pharisee went home empty handed. How do you go to God in prayer? Do you go to accuse God of not blessing ...

 *MANNA FOR THE     WEEK* Jesus speaking to his disciples about prayer gave them some guidelines on how to pray. *Lk 18:1-8.* In his discussion with his disciples he gave them the following guidelines. Men ought to pray without losing hope. The first thing that he mentioned was MEN. Men speaks of maturity. We need to be matured in mind to pray because we need to believe that the God we don't see hears us. He talked about not losing HOPE. Because sometimes we need to wait for some answers to our prayers. He also talked about persistence. That God has not answered does not mean that he will not or that he is incapable of answering our prayers. There was a WIDOW. Widowhood speaks of our helplessness and need for God's help. The lawyer speaks of legal reasons why our prayers must not be answered. But with persistence, resistance was broken. He also talked about the widow visiting the lawyer.
