*CUT TO THE HEART PT7*
*Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do*?"
*Acts 2:36*.
We have been looking at how the hearers of bro Peter was "cut to the heart" and we asked the writer of the letter to the Hebrews and we were told that it was the making of the word of the Lord.
*For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart*. *Heb 4:12*.
Having seen how sharp the word of the Lord is we will now look at the next thing that the word of the Lord does that made them got "cut to the heart". According to the writer of the letter to the Hebrews it is said that the word of the Lord is a "discerner of the thoughts and intent of the heart.
discernment is a God given ability to distinguish between right and wrong, truth and falsehood, good and evil, and to understand God's will. It is a process of thoughtful decision-making, often guided by the Holy Spirit and illuminated by Scripture, that allows believers to assess situations, make wise choices, and live a life aligned with spiritual truth, rather than worldly wisdom.
From the biblical understanding of discernment we can see that the reason they were cut to the heart was that they realised that even when they were religious people that they religion was in the wrong and having known the truth they realised where they were working in error.
Due to the fact that discernment is one of the ways the Holy Spirit guides us in this journey of faith discernment helps us to manage complex situations, make informed decisions that is guided by the Holy Spirit and it helps us to stay grounded in our faith.
I pray for you and with you that any power assigned to bring about setback in your life and faith journey catches fire now by the power in the name of Jesus.
