Jesus did not cone to condemn the world but that through Him whosoever that believes will not be condemn. The fact here remains that Jesus has no business condemning anyone but the condemnation already exist even before the arrival of Jesus so Jesus coming is to pull all of us out that already existing condemnation so you not believing is choosing to remain in that condemnation that is in existence.

The condemnation is the consequence of the sins of our father(Adam) and Jesus being the second Adam came to destroy the consequences of the sin of the first Adam how did he do that by dying on the cross for us for the condemnation of the sins of Adam meaning that God is interested in forgiving us and loving us.

Taking a good look at what Jesus was telling Mr Nicodemus you will observe that He didn't tell Mr Nicodemus that God can only save him if he becomes righteous but that all that he needed to do was to believe and there as no amount of work that he told Mr Nicodemus to accomplish before he gets saved.

The whole thing is about us believing, it is not about what one can do for God rather it is all about what God is ready to do for man if and only if man can take advantage of it by believing. It shows that God did not come to be our judge but our savour and the restorer of our lost dignity through the sin of Adam.

The essence of the gift is to proof to you and i that God is on a mission of rescuing his children from condemnation to life everlasting. God being of love wouldn't have condemned anyone hence he came to rescue man from condemnation and to show us how much He loves us.
