ZACHAEUS

ZACHAEUS
Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house." 6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, "He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner." 8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold." 9 And Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
The bible told us of a man who was known and identified as a sinner but made efforts to see to it that he become a saint by defying all odds even to climbing a tree irrespective of his influence and affluence. *Lk 19:1-10.*

Let us take a look at the things that made zachaeus to almost the opportunity of his salvation.

1. *Procrastination* Zachaeus as a tax collector used to stay in a place where he can see anybody coming or leaving the town but he was busy making money hoping to make more money before coming to Jesus. What is delaying you from coming to Jesus or giving your heart to Jesus. You may be a Christian but your heart is far from God.
2. *Lateness*. Because he came late he could not see Jesus. Have you not heard that delay is dangerous? The best time to do anything is NOW.
3. *The crowd*. The crowd represent the world and all that is in it. What people will say. The mockery and shame of been called a Christian. The crowd (influence and affluence of this world) when you are in the crowd you will not see the cloud.(the glory of God)
4. *He was a short man*. When you sin you shrink. Sin is a reducer. Sin separates us from the love of God.

In all these limitations he still saw Jesus because.
He made efforts by running ahead of others.
He climbed a tree irrespective of his influence and affluence.
He welcomed Jesus to his house (heart)
He repented and promised restitution and not just restitution but in four folds.
He left everything and followed Jesus.
Dear friend, what is it that is stopping you from surrendering totally to Jesus now?
Like zachaeus let us make efforts today before it will be too late.

*HAPPY SUNDAY DEAR FRIENDS*
