YOU NEED POWER

*YOU NEED POWER*

*But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth*." 

*Acts 1:8*.

When Jesus was talking to the disciples He was telling them how to take charge and that they need the ability or power to do so but while He was speaking their minds were set on the things of the world so He came out plainly to tell them that what you need is not to rule this world or look for a way to retaliate what the Jews did but you need power not the type that you are thinking about but the type that the Holy Spirit gives.

When Jesus talked about this power He was not talking about the power of "do me i do God not go vex" or the power of i can do anything and "nothing go happen" no sir, He was talking of the power to serve in humility without minding who is served, He was talking about the power that will compare one to do all he or she can in promoting the kingdom of God.

This power has the ability to act or produce an effect that will cause damage to the kingdom of darkness and not just the kingdom of darkness this power has the potential to cause a radical change in individuals lives by making them to change from sinners to saints like it did in the life of St Paul.

Can you imagine a fearful Peter speaking to a crowd without minding the personalities present in the meeting to the point that after speaking they had to check his background to discover that he was unlearned but realising that he was with Jesus they wondered less.

This power can cause one to do extra ordinary things without minding, can you imagine the apostles that were scare to the marrow few days back now challenging the authorities that be that they would rather dare anything for the sake of the kingdom but with all sense of responsibility and humility.

This power can make one to do extra ordinary things for the sake of the kingdom, imagine the apostles being flogged for speaking in the name of Jesus and all they could do was to go home rejoicing that they had been counted worthy to suffer for the name of Jesus

What of Peter and James at the gate called beautiful looking at a lame man and commanded him to look at them when the lame man did look at them expecting to get money from them they gave him something money cannot buy (something more than money)

This power was to officially confer on them the legal or official authority, capacity, or right to act in the name of Christ and on behalf of Christ to represent Christ and not to replace Him in the world. The power was to make them to have dominion over territories, influence over peoples and places and to take charge of the new church to keep it one according to the mind and will of Jesus

I pray for you and with you that as the Holy Spirit falls on you afresh tomorrow that you will be renewed and revived to serve God better by the power in the name of Jesus.
