*Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them*.
*Acts 16:6-10*.
Yesterday we started looking at the question king David asked us about who can ascend to the presence of God and we started looking at the answers that he gave us because he did not just ask a question he also provided the answers.
*Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face. Selah. Ps 24:3-6*.
In addition to the once we saw yesterday we will be seeing more today courtesy of the help of the spirit of God and we will be looking at prayer, meditation and fasting.
PRAYER. Prayer is the lifting up of our mind and soul to God. That is allowing our souls and mind to be connected to God and God alone.
To pray Is to converse with God; the intercourse of the soul with God, not in contemplation or meditation, but in direct address to him.
Prayer comes in different forms and patterns. It may be oral or mental. It may be occasional or constant, ejaculatory or formal. Prayer also means "beseeching the Lord" "pouring out the soul before the Lord" "seeking unto God and making supplication" "drawing near to God and "bowing to his supremacy"
Prayer presupposes a belief in the personality of God, his ability and willingness to hold intercourse with us, his personal control of all things and of all his creatures and all their actions.
Hence Jesus will say that "men ought to pray" men here speaks of the maturity of the mind. Men here speaks of character and determination and men here amongst many other things speaks of praying and waiting for answer.
*Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. Lk 18:1*.
For our prayers to be acceptable prayer, it must be sincere, offered with reverence and godly fear, with a humble sense of our own insignificance as creatures and of our own unworthiness as sinners, with earnest importunity, and with unhesitating submission to the divine will.
Prayer is also an expression of our faith as it must be offered in the faith that God is, and that He is the hearer and answerer of prayer, and that he will fulfil his word that says, "Ask, and ye shall receive".
Do you wait to be reminded to pray and when you pray do you wait to be reminded that you are in the presence of God? Do you know that even your refusal to pray is in itself a prayer too because by so doing you are accepting things the way they are.
I pray for you that you will not miss it at the point of breakthrough and that whenever you prayer may you see answers beyond your prayer points and imaginations through Christ our Lord Amen.
Good day beloved and do enjoy a prosperous Sunday . Peace be with you.
To all of us celebrating anything today this is wishing you the best.
