*SPIRITUAL CHECK UP PT9*

*Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. So passing by Mysia, they came down to Troas. And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, "Come over to Macedonia and help us." Now after he had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go to Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them*. 

*Acts 16:6-10*.

We have been seeing how St Paul had been going about checking on people that he had contact with by the reason of the gospel of Christ which is our hope of glory. We saw how they were restrained from entering Asia and we said that today that we are going to be take a look at it.

The bible said that it was the Holy Spirit that restrained them. The question now is why? Does it mean that they don't need the gospel? Is it that they don't need salvation? Has God favourites? These we will try to look at God helping us.

As far as I am aware, no specific reason was given as to why or exactly how Paul was prohibited from going into Asia Minor at that time. Since many churches were later established there, it would clearly not seem to be attributable to any divine plan to permanently keep the gospel from being preached there. 

Even though the reason or reasons were not given we could speculate the following as the reason for the restrain.

1. Test of their obedience. At every point in our journey of faith, one thing we must not loose sight of is the test of faith. Many a time God would want to chech whether we are still with him or not that is why in our world today many of us are working for God but not with God.

It is easier to work for God than to work with God. When you work for God you do things your own way but for you to work with God you must be small in your own way. You must die to self. You must listen and follow his leading. You must trust and obey no matter what comes your way. You must live for God and not for yourself.

How is your obedience to divine commands? Do you choose to do things against God's command because you fell that they are right? Do you ignore God's command because they don't allign with your desires? Remember that obedience is still better than sacrifice.

Have you not seen people do evil because they fell that they have no choice even if God has commanded us not to do so? Ask the prostitutes sorry hook up girls, armed robbers, yahoo and yahoo plus people, what of people that are just following trends? Etc the list abound.

I pray that you will not leave God's will to do your own or people's will and by that act of obedience may you prosper and have good success through Christ our Lord Amen.
