The bible told us about two men that went to church to pray
*MANNA FOR THE WEEK*
The bible told us about two men that went to church to pray, one a pharisee and the other a tax collector. Lk 18:9-14.
The pharisee went up to God to tell God that He was owning him because he pays his tithes, fast, gives fat offerings and he also told God how he makes efforts to see that he live a righteous life. Though it seemed that he was trying his best but all that he was doing was out of obeying religious laws not out of love for God.
While the tax collector knowing full well that he was a sinner out of reverence for God went to God to acknowledge his sins and openness to change and live right.
While the pharisee was busy accusing the tax collector of not been worthy of God's blessings, the tax collector was busy making his ways right with God and at the end of the story Jesus told us that the tax collector went home blessed while the self righteous pharisee went home empty handed.
How do you go to God in prayer?
Do you go to accuse God of not blessing you while naming those that He has blessed?
Do you go to God to tell him why others should not be blessed apart from you?
Do you go to God full or empty?
Do you go to God to tell him what you have done for him not knowing that whatever you have done is even at the instance of his grace.
Do you go to God with pride and arrogance. Etc
Dear friend, if we can go to God with a heart of contrition, humility, faith, total trust in his ability, if we can approach him with a sense of emptiness to be filled. If we can go to him depending on his mercy and trusting in his love no amount of accusation from anybody can make God not to answer us, that is the spirit behind the favour that the undeserving tax collector received from God.
The truth of the matter is that God will never depend on peoples opinion to bless you.
May God who blesses without counting the cost or depend on people's opinion grant you all your heart desires and bless you beyond measure in this season and beyond in Jesus name.
