*REASONABLE SACRIFICE Pt2*

*I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service*. *Rom 12:1*.

Yesterday we started looking at how we can offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God and we were able to see few points and today we shall be seeing some other points as the Lord continues to help us.

Another area were we offer our bodies as a living sacrifice is through,
FASTING. Fasting can be said to be a voluntary abstinence from food, as a religious mortification or humiliation; either total or partial abstinence from customary food, with a view to mortify the appetites, or to express grief and affliction on account of some calamity, or to deprecate an expected evil.

You can see that when you fast a lot of things are involved. We can,

Fast from food. When we fast from food our appetite is sacrificed inorder to please God. fasting from food is different from starvation.

Fast from sinning (By avoiding sin). When we fast from sin God is glorified like Joseph did in the house of portipher in Egypt.

It can be used to mortify the body. Whether we are fasting from food, drink, smoking or any other it helps us to subject our bodies to what we want and not what the body craves for.

It can also be used to express grief over evil done by oneself as can be seen in the case of the people of Nineveh.

It can also be used to ward off evil or engage God in our battles.

*And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too fierce for him, he took with him seven hundred men who drew swords, to break through to the king of Edom, but they could not. Then he took his eldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him as a burnt offering upon the wall; and there was great indignation against Israel. So they departed from him and returned to their own land. 2Kgs 3:27-27*.

A sacrifice made God to make His own people to retreat from a fight they were wining.

Through the sacrifices that we have made in life may God cause all our enemies to submit through Christ our Lord Amen.

LET US PRAY* *HE HAS RISEN* *Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, "Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee*, *Lk 24:5-6*. Jesus conquered sin. He conquered the grave. He destroyed death He rendered the grave powerless and made it impotent for eternity. All that he did for you and me. We are the alleluia people  Our Christ is risen indeed never to die again. He was victorious for you and i.
