*EXHORTED AND STRENGTHENED*

*Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words*.  
*Acts 15:32*.

I can imagine the joy in the minds of Judas and Silas as the word of God was read to the audience and seeing the joy and the encouragement the word was birthing in the lives of the people.

There is no greater joy to any man than seeing that the seed that he sowed is yielding fruit. Paul once said that he planted and Apollo's watered but God gave the growth but there won't be any growth if the soil(heart) is so hard as to make of no effect the planting and the watering.

The apostles Judas and Silas had to stay back to exhort and strengthen the believers because they saw a need that has to be met and they had to, the unconvinieces and time to do that not withstanding. They saw that,
1. The word preached to them was birthing joy and encouragement.
2. The people were ready to receive more of the word with joy.
3. The people were ready to live the word they hear with joy.
4. They were ready to receive more of the word.
5. They need to be strengthened in order not to loose what they have heard already.
6. They were not selective of the word they want to hear, how to hear it or where to hear it.
7. The devil will not stop until he make of no effect the word they have heard.

In our days the word of God is nolonger birthing joy and encouragement because it is either the hearers has turn it to one of those things we hear in the church or something meant for the poor and vulnerable or the preachers has turn it to motivational speech or a means of extortion.

How do you treat the word of God that you hear? How do you position your heart when it comes to the word of God? Do you allow the word to encourage and strengthen you? Your mindset will determine how you will receive it and how you receive it will determine what it will birth in your life.

I pray that this reflection will serve as a source of encouragement to you and as it encourages you may it births joy and strength in your life and christian journey through Christ our Lord Amen.
