*EXHORTED AND STRENGTHENED PT2*

*Now Judas and Silas, themselves being prophets also, exhorted and strengthened the brethren with many words*.  
*Acts 15:32*.

Having seen that the word of God birthed joy and encouragement in the life of the believers, Judas and Silas had to take it upon themselves to exhort and to strengthen them.

Why do they need to strengthen them when it has already birthed joy and encouragement in their lives?
Did you remember the parable of the sower? Some lost the word they heard by reason of joy.

*But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. Math 13:20-21*.

You see! Judas and Silas realised that it is not the joy with which the word was received that matters but the rootedness of the word that was heard hence they took it upon themselves to make sure that they don't loose the word on account of temptations like mockery and others.

Another thing that made them to stay back to exhort and to strengthen them was that they know that the joy and encouragement that they had does not in anyway means understanding according to Jesus.

*When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. Math 13:19*.

Did you now see why they had to stay back? Now let us bring it down to you and i, how many times have you heard the word of God and make resolution not to go back to those things and yet see yourself the next minute doing what you just promised God that you will never ever do again?

What of those that hears the word, shouts "ride on sir", jump up at any prophetic declaration and yet return to the native doctors on suit in the night?

What of those who give their lives to Christ on Sunday morning in church but collect it back in the evening because they want to club?

In a nutshell dear friend you and i needs exhortation every now and then so that we can be strengthened so that the tribulations, the trials and the persecution of this life will not make us to be running here and there in search of solution.

May God give us the grace to be well and firmly rooted in our faith so that we will be able to overcome every attack of the devil through Christ our Lord Amen.
