*HE LIVED BY EXAMPLE*

*Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God*.
*John.3.5*

Remember that Jesus started telling Mr Nicodemus about baptism by saying "most assuredly" in order words he was saying was "most importantly" meaning that there is no alternative to it that is why when Uncle John the Baptist tried to stop Him from being baptized we saw how Jesus resisted it that even if He as a person does not need baptism but it as necessary to set an example.
*For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps*: *1Per 2:21*.

To show us how important it is to be baptized even God has to confirm it Himself by so many acts of His. There were three things that happened simultaneously to confirm that what Jesus did was nothing but something very important in the economy of salvation and that God the Father gave His approval.
*When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased*.” Matt 3:16-17.

The bible made us to understand that immediately the baptism was done that, first of all that the heavens opened to Him. What does that tell you? Baptism open our access to God. Remember that when Adam sinned that he ran away from God he on his own his himself from God denying himself access to God but when we receive baptism that access is granted to us because we have by baptism accepted to reconcile with God.

The second thing that happened was that the Spirit of God descended upon him as a dove. In the Catholic Church there is what is called a sacrament. A sacrament is an outward sign of what is happening inside, the dove was telling you and i that when we receive baptism that the Spirit of God comes to live in us and no longer the spirit of disobedience.

Another thing that happened was that the voice of the Father(God) was heard saying that "this is my beloved son" see what He said "my beloved" so he was not just a son but a beloved one at that. So you want to be a beloved son of God? Repent, give your life to Christ and accept baptism and your life will never remain the same again.
